no worries

To be young again and have no worries or knowledge about life.  How great that would be.  Days that consists of cake, riding a tricycle, blowing bubbles and having family that adores you.
Now my days are filled with school, writing papers, balancing my money, working to pay for school and bills that come, wondering where I will get an internship to build knowledge for the future.  Realizing that the only thing that truly matters is Christ and that without Him, nothing is possible.
Taking a break from photography has been great, but with that I also miss it more than I thought I would, which is great in its own way.  Chatting with two of my friends over break about photography has made me aware of how much I love it.  I cannot put a price on it.  I think photography is part of who I am.  I hope that graphic design will be part of me.  I have yet to take a break from it because it is so new.  New love is great, but it's the old ones that I come back to.
That was random, and I just sat down to type whatever came to mind.  Hope you followed. =)

There is nothing called "hope" in my future.

My co-worker Alice was telling me about this movie the other night after work.  "Born into Brothels" is a documentary about a photographer from New York, Zana Briski, who has been living in Sonagchi, Calcutta off and on for a few years.  She went to capture the lives of the adult women living there who are caught up in a world of prostitution.  While there Briski found the children to be more interesting than the women.  Briski teaches the children about photography and while doing so, finds it necessary to help them get an education, so they can get out of the life that is set before them.  Getting the children into boarding schools is harder than it seems because, "no one will take these kids because their parents are prostitutes."  I would highly recommend this documentary, which is something I do not say too often.  Great film.  It makes me want to do something more with my life.

Design Work

These are some designs that I have been working on for class.  Political Posters.
In order:
1. two colors type only
2. two colors type and a graphic
3. two colors, type and photo image
4. "other" do what you want.  I created a passport wrap, this is just the cover.

These I created for my Journalism class.
Create a Zine and bring it to class.

That is all I have for now.  I did join AIGA which is for graphic designers.  The UNL chapter of it will be holding an art show in a few weeks, so I will probably be posting work from the past to get feedback on what should go.  I can turn in two images.
